To receive a refund for the Board Certification (BCETMB) exam or Massage Therapy Assessment for Certification (MTAC) exam, you must cancel your application no later than 48 hours prior to the date of your scheduled exam.
Refunds must be requested within 90 days from the date of payment. Processing, background checks and portfolio review fees will be deducted from the refund total.
On the exam application, candidates are required to attest that they are eligible to receive an NCBTMB credential and are not disqualified under our Felony Policy and Criminal Conviction Policy. Not disclosing disqualifying events on your application for the exam will result in no refund being given.
If, for any reason, any part of your application is denied, refunds will not be issued.
Candidates for MTAC and Board Certification have ninety (90) days from the time they are deemed eligible to take the exam to schedule and sit for their examination. Candidates who do not take the exam during this time period will forfeit their exam fee in full. Candidates will also have to reapply and pay the full exam fee in order to again be considered eligible to take the exam.

Portfolio Review for Certification — Fees are non-refundable.
Approved Providers — Fees are non-refundable.
Online Practice Exam — Fees are non-refundable after the program has been activated.
Specialty Certificate Exams — If you have not yet received access to a Specialty Exam at the time of your request, fees are refundable less a $25 processing fee. If you have received access to a Specialty Exam at the time of your request, fees are non-refundable. Refunds must be requested within 30 days from the date NCBTMB receives your application on exam.ncbtmb.org.
