NCBTMB is sharing this press released on behalf of our Specialty Partner, Crouse Hospital, in Syracuse, N.Y.
Syracuse, N.Y. (March 7, 2019)—Crouse Health and our partners, Nicole Miller, M.S., L.M.T., Clear Path for Veterans, and NCBTMB are excited to announce a new program, Warrior Hands, specifically designed to support our nation’s veteran massage therapists. Join us in April, 2019, as this Veterans Massage continuing education program will be hosted entirely at Clear Path, will include Syracuse VA guest instructors, and will be provided at no registration costs to 18 veteran massage therapists from across the nation.* The program includes openings for 7 registrations for civilian therapists who will also participate with their peer massage therapists.**
This unique program, taking place at a VSO (veteran service organization), will provide an authentic learning experience, immersing participants into veteran culture. Veteran massage therapists will be prepared to ‘serve their own’ and civilian therapists will participate in this one of a kind educational opportunity.
Nicole Miller, creator of the Hands & Hearts in Action program, started this iniative by offering to train for the entire week, voluntarily. She explained, “After meeting so many wonderful veteran massage therapists at AMTA National Convention in Washington, D.C. last year, and hearing their heart warming experiences, I realized they shared a common pursuit. They are compassionate and dedicated to helping their peer veterans; it is our duty to support them as they embark on their journey and it is my honor to help.” Upon hearing the idea of supporting veteran massage therapists, Clear Path for Veterans eagerly agreed to host the entire event for the week. They will profile their veteran service lines and staff, providing benchmark programs and ideas.
We are also grateful for NCBTMB, our partner in education and their CEO Steve Kirin, who provided this reflection, “NCBTMB is proud to strengthen our partnership with Crouse Hospital, Clear Path, and the many affiliates that make a program like this possible for Veterans and their families. Together, our collaborative training through our Specialty Certificate Program empower therapists, veterans, and caregivers alike with the necessary education and experience to provide veterans and their families with superior care—and with the credentials to prove it. We are thrilled to contribute to the advancement of therapeutic massage care for our veterans, and sincerely thank Crouse Hospital and Clear Path for bringing this exciting opportunity to fruition.”
We’d also like to acknowledge nearby Craftsman Inn who is providing a deeply discounted lodging rate for program guests.
This is a registration for a one week series class for the Crouse Health Veterans Massage Continuing Education Program, from April 28 – May 2, 2019 . This series is designed to allow students to attend the three core classes within the same week for a total of 40 CEs and includes the following classes;

- Invisible Service Wounds (16 CEs)

This program is now available for massage therapists who live outside of New York. Students from other states who are not licensed to practice massage based on the Office of Profession guidelines, still qualify for CE credit for all the classes and hours attended. During activities that involve hands-on participation, non-NY therapists may observe and receive massage from NYS licensed massage therapists. This time constitutes a small portion of class time.
*For veteran registrants: this registration is provided complementary to the first 15 veteran massage therapists who register and provide proof of service. Veteran massage therapists are responsible for their own traveling, lodging, and nutrition expenses. Special hotel rates are available at nearby Craftsman Inn. Please contact us for details.
**For civilian registrants: standard payments and processing are required, corresponding with payments and processing of regular Veterans classes or combo/series classes. Disclosure: Nicole Miller will receive no payments for her instruction for the entire week. Funds acquired through civilian registrations will be used to cover printing, materials, comfort items, event staff fees, and other related expenses. Any remaining funds will be used to support the Clear Path Wellness for Families program offering massage and similar services to family members and caregivers. Special hotel rates are available at nearby Craftsman Inn. Please contact us for details.
