JTA: Job Task Analysis

Massage and bodywork schools play a critical role in the development of NCBTMB examinations, which are reviewed and updated based on surveys completed by instructors and practitioners. This process – known as Job Task Analysis – guarantees that exams are comprehensive and relevant to job competency and performance. It also serves to keep the exams within National Commission for Certifying Agencies accreditation guidelines.

NCBTMB has completed four such analyses over the years. The most recent JTA report called on the expertise of more than 4,000 massage professionals and resulted in refinements to the weight of content areas for NCBTMB exams, effective January 1, 2010.
