NCBTMB Elevates Steve Kirin to CEO

Oakbrook Terrace, IL  (May 22, 2013) – The Board of NCBTMB is pleased to announce the promotion of Steve Kirin to Chief Executive Officer.  Stating that his transitional role and major organizational objectives are nearly complete, Mike Williams, interim CEO of NCBTMB, recommended Kirin’s promotion to the post.  The promotion of Steve Kirin, the current Chief Operating Officer, is a natural progression of the changes implemented at NCBTMB over the past twenty months.

“I’ve been consulting in the position of CEO since September 2011,” states Williams. “And in that time, we’ve succeeded in a complete programmatic transformation of NCBTMB, including a realignment of staff and programs and services to ensure optimal structure supporting the needs of the profession.”

Working in tandem with Steve Kirin, whom Mike brought into NCB in December 2011, much has been accomplished during Williams’ tenure, including:

  • Moving NCB from a paper-based organization to a digitally-efficient organization—including online registration for its products (reducing registration time from weeks to just minutes).
  • Establishing a new credential—Board Certification—to allow those qualified and interested to distinguish themselves within the profession and with the public they serve.
  • Strategizing and building a new website, social media presences, and a cooperative Sounding Board of member volunteers—enabling better communications and engagements with the profession and the public.
  • Bringing stronger focus to the significant problem of human trafficking and strengthening the industry’s relationship with the Polaris Project.

“With the launch of these initiatives, it is now time to name a permanent CEO who will devote his full time and energy to continue the momentum we’ve created.  There is simply no better candidate than Steve Kirin to continue in this role. Please join me in congratulating and supporting him,” states Williams.

Sue Toscano, Board Chair of NCBTMB, expresses enthusiastic support for Steve Kirin in the new role. “Steve has provided constant and critical support during the changes and advancements over the past year and a half…this is now a natural and exciting progression for all of us. On behalf of the Board, we’re grateful to Mike to be at this point of transition; and we look forward to Steve’s leadership as we continue to evolve.”

Mike will continue to work closely with Steve and the NCB Board to ensure a successful transition.
