NCBTMB and CCTC Introduce Specialty Certificate in Massage Therapy for Integrative Healthcare
Burr Ridge, Ill. (March 29, 2016) – The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced today a partnership with Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) to introduce the profession’s first Specialty Certificate in Massage Therapy for Integrative Healthcare, available April 11, 2016.
NCBTMB and FSMTB Release Joint Statement Regarding CE Collaboration

CEO Steve Kirin Announces Decision Not to Renew Contract
Burr Ridge, Ill. (March 15, 2016) – With a heavy heart, Chief Executive Officer, Steve Kirin, announced today his decision not to renew his contract with The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Kirin will remain in his current role until May 20, 2016.
Kirin began his NCBTMB journey as Chief Operating Officer in 2011. Soon after, in 2013, he was elevated to Chief Executive Officer. From the very start, Kirin made it his personal mission to audit and restructure all facets of the organization to achieve greater efficiencies, financial stability, and purpose within the profession.
Coalition of National Massage Therapy Organizations Meets to Discuss Issues Facing the Profession
December 18, 2015—The Coalition of National Massage Therapy Organizations met December 4, 2015 in Chicago, IL to continue dialog on a variety of issues facing the massage therapy profession. The coalition comprises seven organizations participating on an equal footing, in an atmosphere of mutual participation and respect. Two representatives from each of the organizations participated in the daylong conversation.
2016 New York Sponsorship Fee Adjustment
Since 2012, NCBTMB sponsors its Approved Providers of Continuing Education to teach New York LMTs. To be clear, there is a separate procedure to become sponsored to teach to our New York massage therapy community, and each Approved Provider interested in becoming sponsored must meet specific requirements.
