National disciplinary database

NCBTMB knows that – as people become more and more mobile – boards need a resource to quickly identify a practitioner applying for certification in their state who has been disciplined in another.

That’s why NCBTMB recently proposed a national practitioner database that would house all disciplinary data from states in one centralized location. That way, boards could query the database and learn if there are any disciplinary issues to consider before licensing a practitioner.

NCBTMB is currently in conversation with state board executives from across the country and plans to pilot the disciplinary database in several states that represent massage boards operating as umbrella agencies, independent boards and under other boards. This will allow NCBTMB to study how the database operates under each structure and make any necessary modifications before launching the program nationwide.
