File a complaint


NCBTMB can only accept complaints against massage therapists and bodyworkers certified by NCBTMB. NCBTMB also accepts complaints against NCBTMB Approved Providers. To determine if an individual is certified by NCBTMB, please contact the Director of Ethics & Discipline at Ethics@ncbtmb.org.

If you believe an NCBTMB certified massage therapist/bodyworker has violated NCBTMB’s Code of Ethics and/or Standards of Practice, please file a complaint. A complaint must include the following information:
  • Your name, address and phone number
  • The name, address and phone number of the NCBTMB certified massage therapist/bodyworker against whom you are filing the complaint
  • A detailed description of the facts supporting the complaint
  • A description of any steps that have been taken to address the situation in the complaint, and the results of any such steps
  • A list of specific sections of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice you believe have been violated
  • Your approval for the Ethics and Standards Committee to disclose all information in the complaint to the massage therapist/bodyworker named in the complaint, the members of NCBTMB’s Ethics and Standards Committee and Investigative Team, NCBTMB staff, NCBTMB legal counsel and experts involved in handling the complaint
  • Your signature
If you believe an NCBTMB Approved Provider has violated NCBTMB’s Code of Ethics, the Approved Provider Code of Conduct and/or Standards of Practice, please file a complaint. A complaint must include the following information:
  • Your name, address and phone number
  • The name, address and phone number of the NCBTMB Approved Provider against whom you are filing the complaint
  • A detailed description of the facts supporting the complaint
  • A description of any steps that have been taken to address the situation in  the complaint, and the results of any such steps
  • A list of specific sections of the Approved Provider Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice you believe have been violated
  • Your approval for the Continuing Education Committee to disclose all information in the complaint to the Approved Provider named in the complaint, the members of NCBTMB’s Investigative Team, NCBTMB staff, NCBTMB legal counsel and experts involved in handling the complaint
  • Your signature
Complaints should be marked PERSONAL & CONFIDENTIAL and submitted to:
