Certificants: violations of ethics/standards
In serving the public’s trust – and in accordance with the Rules and Procedures Regarding Ethical and Professional Disciplinary Complaints – NCBTMB publishes sanctions imposed on certificants found to be in violation of the Code of Ethics and/or Standards of Practice. The following sanctions have been imposed:
Alina Mecias, Hialeah, Florida
The Ethics and Standards Committee revoked Ms. Mecias’ certification effective as of February 19, 2008. The Committee found that Ms. Mecias violated the following Standards of Practice: I(a), I(c), II(a), II(b), II(c), II(g), II(h). The Committee also determined that Ms. Mecias had violated the following Code of Ethics provision: II, VII, XVIII.
Erin Detjen, Davenport, Florida
The Ethics and Standards Committee revoked Ms. Detjen’s certification effective as of March 17, 2008 pursuant to Section 9.3(A)(ii).
Michael Petek, Spokane, Washington
The Ethics and Standards Committee revoked Mr. Petek’s certification effective as of March 21, 2008. The Committee found that Mr. Petek violated the following Standards of Practice: I(a), II(a), II(h), V(e), VI(a), VI(c). The Committee also determined that Mr. Petek had violated the following Code of Ethics provisions: XIV, XVIII.
Donald Brown, Sharpsburg, Georgia
The Ethics and Standards Committee revoked Mr. Brown’s certification effective March 25, 2008. The Committee found that Mr. Brown violated the following Standards of Practice: I(a), I(b), I(c), I(d), II(a), II(b), II(c), IV(c), V(b), V(c), V(d), V(e), VI(a), VI(b), VI(c). The Committee also determined that Mr. Brown had violated the following Code of Ethics provisions: VII, XIV, XVIII.
