Recertification Frequently Asked Questions
A: Yes. As of 1/1/13, the recertification period is two years. During that two-year period, to maintain your Board Certification credential, you must complete 24 hours of continuing education and 100 hours of massage-related work, commit to adhere to our Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, pass a thorough national background check and hold a current CPR certificate.
A: Generally, yes. The specific requirements and prohibilitions toward your Continuing Education credits are as follows. You may not count more than 4 credits in self care toward your 24 required credits You may not count more than 4 credits of courses 2 credits or less toward your 24 required credits. You must take 3 credits of research. CPR credits do not count toward your 24 required credits.
A: To be accepted for recertification of the Board Certification credential, continuing education hours must be received from a Board Approved Continuing Education Provider.

In 2012 |
You needed to have recertified by your expiration date in 2012 to keep your National Certification status active for two more years. You may transition to the Board Certification credential in 2013. |
You needed to have recertified by your expiration date in 2012 to renew your National Certification for four more years through 2016. Provides extra time to meet requirements. |

In 2013 |
No action required before your expiration date. Become Board Certified by meeting eligibility requirements by your renewal date or sooner to be exempt from taking the Board Certification exam. |
Must meet Board Certification requirements: 750 hours education, 250 hours hands-on work experience, etc. by your 2013 renewal date to be exempt from taking the Board Certification exam. |

In 2014 |
No action required before your expiration date. Become Board Certified by meeting eligibility requirements by your renewal date or sooner to be exempt from taking the Board Certification exam. |
