Board of Directors
The eight members of the NCBTMB Board of Directors supervise, manage and direct the affairs of the national certification program, its committees, publications and examinations. They also govern NCBTMB’s policies and procedures.
Dr. Stuart Watts, D.O.M.
Albuquerque, NM (term ends December 31, 2017)
Dr. Watts is currently licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine in New Mexico and Hawaii. He began studying Chinese medicine in San Francisco in the 1960’s, with further studies in Texas, Boston and England. Dr. Watts is the founder of 5 institutes of Asian medicine: Academy of Oriental Medicine – Austin (AOMA), Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC), Institute of Traditional Medicine (ITM) (later the International Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (IICM), Santa Fe College of Natural Medicine (acupuncture program) and North American Academy of Asian Medicine (NAAAM).
Dr. Watts obtained his Doctorate degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College. A practitioner for over 40 years, he has also been a teacher in various forms of alternative medicine for over 35 years. Dr. Watts is a concerned practitioner of the healing arts and has worked for both practitioner rights and the rights of the public.
Teresa M. Matthews, LMT, CPT, NCTMB
Jacksonville, FL (term ends December 31, 2017)
Teresa is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, National CE provider and World Champion Athlete. For the past 18 years, she has owned and operated a successful Massage School in Jacksonville, Florida. Today, she continues to teach advanced massage training and her Personal Training Certification Program.
Teresa graduated from the Arlington School of Massage in Jacksonville in 1996. With over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, Teresa has taken healthcare to a new level by organizing Health, Wellness & Fitness Professionals, Inc. Her practice brings optimal therapy to her clients by combining massage and personal training bodywork. She specializes in Kinesiology, Deep Tissue/Sports Massage, Strength Training and Stretching.
Michael McGillicuddy LMT, CKTI, NCTMB
Winter Park, FL (term ends December 31, 2016)
Michael McGillicuddy is Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and is the President of USA Pro-Sports, a continuing education company, which conducts workshops throughout the world. Michael is also an internationally recognized speaker and has presented in the USA, Europe and Australia.
Michael graduated from the Florida School of Massage Therapy in 1984. In September of 1986, Michael became the owner and administrator of the Central Florida School of Massage Therapy in Winter Park, Florida, where he teaches and practices massage therapy today. Additionally, Michael designed and conducts a Sports Internship Program at the University of Central Florida for graduate students of massage therapy.
The World Massage Festival inducted Michael into their Hall of Fame in 2011 and awarded him Teacher of the Year in 2012.
Judy Silcock, NCTMB, CNMT, BA
Twin Falls, ID (term ends December 31, 2014)
Judy Silcock is a full-time massage therapist and bodywork practitioner. Since 1995, she has served NCBTMB as a volunteer on various committees including the Government Relations Committee, Approved Provider Committee and Recertification Subcommittee.
She has also held state-level offices in Idaho with the Massotherapy Association and American Massage Therapy Association.
Silcock received an undergraduate degree and completed graduate studies from the University of Arizona. She also attended Esalen Institute and Magic Valley Massotherapy Institute. In addition, Silcock has studied sports massage in Russia at the Physical Culture and Science Institutes of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Julia Young Hayes, CPOI, LMT, M.Ed, NCTMB
Meridian, MS (term ends December 31, 2015)
Julia Young Hayes is the owner of Victoria’s Water’s Aquatic/Massage Services and maintains a busy private practice. She has been a licensed massage therapist for 11 years – the same duration as her volunteer service to NCBTMB.
She has served on a number of NCB committees giving her great insight into the programs and policies of the organization. She graduated from the South Louisiana Institute of Massage in New Orleans, received her Master of Education degree from the University of New Orleans and was inducted into the World Massage Festival Hall of Fame in 2010.
