NCBTMB Board of Directors Candidate Application:
Deadline Extended


This year NCBTMB certificants will elect two members for the Board of Directors – one practitioner member and one public member. The term of these positions is four years, beginning with the Board’s Annual Meeting in January, 2010. To apply as a candidate for election to the Board of Directors, you must complete and submit NCBTMB’s Candidate Application. YOUR APPLICATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY JULY 30, 2009.

To be considered for a practitioner member of the Board, an applicant must:
  • Be credentialed by NCBTMB for a minimum of three years.
  • Have a minimum of five years’ experience in the profession of therapeutic massage and/or bodywork.
  • Agree to abide by NCBTMB's Conflict of Interest Policy, Code of Conduct for Volunteers and other agreements included in the Candidate Application Packet.
  • Commit to the time and travel necessary to be a fully participating member of the Board including attendance at meetings, serving as a liaison to committees and travel on behalf of the Board.
If you know anyone who would make a good public member of the Board, please ask them to submit a Candidate Application. To be considered for a public member of the Board, an applicant may not:
  • Be a member of the credentialed profession, an employee of the profession, or an employee of the certifying agency.
  • Derive more than five percent of his/her income from the profession or certifying agency in any of the five years preceding the election.
  • Have a spouse who is a member of the credentialed profession.
  • Have represented the certifying agency for a fee at any time during the five years immediately preceding the election.
  • Be subservient to, or directly superior to, a Board member or the Chief Operating Officer of the certifying agency while serving in another organization.
  • Be a student of any massage or bodywork training program.
